Fox News has projected that Obama has won Virginia bringing him that much closer to the White House. The mood in Phoenix, where a party had been planned, is one of despair. Palin and McCain are due to make a short speech shortly after 05:00 GMT according to Sky News. It also looks as though the contest may well be over at least as far as many media websites are concerned. The Daily Telegraph is already predicting an Obama win, as is the The Times.
