Plane crash in Siberia leaves 15 dead

A plane has crashed in Siberia killing all 15 on board ITAR-TASS, the Russian news agency has said. Ministry spokeswoman Irina Andryanova said an Antonov-24 twin turboprop plane went down Monday on approach to the airport in the town of Igarka in the Krasnoyarsk Territory of eastern Russia.

The ministry spokeswoman said the plane was on its way from the regional capital, also called Krasnoyarsk. The Antonov-24, which has a capacity of about 45 people, crashed at 21:40 Moscow time [17:40 GMT] around 700 metres from the runway, according to the spokeswoman. Of those on board ten were passengers and five were crew.
