Pentagon denies Iranian claims

The incident surrounding a US war plane which was forced to land in Iran, is over according to reports. Earlier the Iranian News Agency said the war plane had violated Iranian airspace and been forced to land. But it has emerged the incident occurred yesterday. Latest reports suggest the plane carrying 5 senior US generals flew into Iranian airspace below radar. Fars, the Iranian News Agency, have said the men have been questioned and were released after it was accepted that the plane entered Iran inadvertently.

The Pentagon have said they had no knowledge of any forced landings and that all their aircraft were accounted for. Sky News reported the aircraft was a US transport plane carrying 8 US officials. There are also suggestions the plane was a Falcon though this would be too small for the numbers involved. “The crisis that that could have happened has been averted” Tim Marshall said, “but said there’s definitely a story here somewhere”. A story that as yet CNN has not reported [Sky News / BBC] .

As a former Air Force officer, I was able to look at the report on the Iranian News Agency (FARS) web site and reach the conclusion that the Iranians are trying to perpetrate a hoax. I outline it all in a post this morning.

Hi - seems it was a Falcon...a Dassault Falcon - passenger plane. Maybe the Persians googled Falcon when they translated their press release from Farsi and came up with the Fighting Falcon - an F16. Anyway - the event did happen, there were some Americans on board, and the fact that they were all allowed to leave tells us the Iranians do not want either a confrontation right now, and/or too much interest in what they are doing. www.skynews.com/foreignmatters
