A helicopter has been shot down by insurgents in Iraq. The Russian built Mi-8 was brought down north of Baghdad, near the town of Tarmiya. Military sources have told
Reuters that 3 crew and six passengers were on board. It is believed they were Bulgarian. In other developments, Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq has claimed responsibility for a failed assassination attempt on Iraqi Interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi. The bomb had targeted his motorcade yesterday killing two police officers.
